Curtain wall laminated glass PVB film thickness selection criteria

1. Scope of application:

Suitable for normal laminated glass, flat toughened and heat-enhanced laminated glass, bending steel or bending heat enhanced sandwich glass and hot bending laminated glass.

2. PVB selection criteria

2.1 ordinary laminated glass

Ordinary laminated glass is the base plate of the laminated glass for annealed float glass, not including bulletproof glass, aquarium glass and multi-layer laminated glass.

The selection of ordinary laminated glass PVB thickness follows the following table:

Note: 1) the thickness of the base plate glass is subject to the thickness of the thickness of the substrate in the laminated glass, and the surface quality of the substrate shall conform to the corresponding float glass standard.

2) bulletproof glass needs to be inspected by the public security department and recorded, and its PVB thickness must conform to the standard type.

  3) aquarium glass and multi-layer laminated glass, due to its stress condition and complex structure, need to determine the thickness of PVB film after analysis and scientific calculation for the specific situation, and do not elaborate on this.

2.2 steel and heat enhanced sandwich glass

The steel or heat enhanced sandwich products, due to the inevitable glass waveform and bow deformation during the steel process, will be filled by the PVB film.

The standard of the laminates of this deformation state shall not exceed 3 ‰.

The selection of the thickness of PVB thickness of laminated glass with steel and heat is followed by the following table:

Note: 1) in order to ensure the glass during the warranty period does not appear edge degumming, bubble, and ensure the safety of the glass performance, safety and avoid losses in the future, for the selection of PVB film should strictly.

2) it is not recommended to use this structure for the unreasonableness of the mechanical structure due to the unreasonable force structure when the glass thickness of two pieces of glass is more than 3mm. If persisted, PVB thickness must be increased by 0.38mm on the corresponding basis.

3) it is not recommended to use this kind of structure for monolithic or thermal enhanced laminated glass because of the unstable factors of thermal cracking and the unreasonable force structure. If used, PVB thickness must be increased by 0.38mm on the basis of the corresponding stipulation, and the failure of non-tempered or heat-enhanced glass will not bear the corresponding responsibility.

4) the thickness of PVB shall be increased by 0.38mm on the basis of the corresponding provisions for the different type of steel and thermal enhanced laminated glass.

5) to the flat tempered, laminated glass for thermal enhancement, when the glass is high and wide while not less than 800 mm, and the ratio is closer to 1, because of the size made of toughened glass or glass waveform are harder to control when heat enhancement, there will be a large deformation, PVB thickness must be based on corresponding regulations to increase 0.38 mm.

6) the thickness of the base plate glass is based on the thickness of the thicker film in the laminated glass substrate.

2.3 Bending steel, heat enhanced sandwich glass and hot curved laminated glass

Bending steel sandwich glass is increasingly used in architecture due to its unique structure form and good safety performance, but it also brings many problems. Many curved steel laminated glass appeared shortly after the completion of the project, the phenomenon of degumming and air bubbles, which caused great loss to both manufacturers and owners.

Bending tempered laminated glass for glass itself, thermal enhancement have the shortcoming radian, the existence of its radian error and deformation of steel determines the thickness of the PVB membrane between the PVB film thickness than general sandwich glass, the minimum thickness of 2.28 mm.

2) bending steel and heating glass shall meet the corresponding requirements of bending tempered glass.

3) the hot curved glass must meet the corresponding hot bending glass processing requirements.
